If I knew the answer to these questions, I’d win all the competitions, but naturally that’s not going to happen! Rather, what we have to do is work out what we want from a photography competition and go from there?

1 The magic hour
Beautiful landscape photos are often defined by the quality of light they were taken in. I don’t recall ever meeting anyone who claimed to not be fascinated to some degree by the night sky. There’s just something hypnotic about gazing upon objects that are billions of years old and light years away, yet so many people feel a rather close affinity with these distant bodies.
